Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
306 PM PDT Thu Oct 19 2017

...Moderate to strong and gusty south winds turning westerly overnight...

.DISCUSSION...
Moderate to strong southwest winds will continue this afternoon into this
evening ahead of the incoming strong cold front, and then will turn
westerly as precipitation arrives. A 3 to 6 hour period of moderate to
locally heavy precipitation is expected as the front moves through from
west to east through tonight. Steep areas that have recently severely
burned could experience debris flows affecting drainages below them. Snow
levels will fall this evening through tonight to near 4500 feet as a
much colder air mass moves in. Showers will continue across the forecast
area Friday, and then a new frontal system will move through Friday night
through Sunday. Warmer and drier weather is expected next week, and a
period of moderate to locally strong east winds is possible Monday night
into Tuesday as RHs fall from high to moderate values.
