Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Middle Tennessee
National Weather Service Nashville TN
417 AM CST Wed Mar 1 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A line of showers and thunderstorms will move across Middle Tennessee
mainly during the morning through early afternoon hours today. Some
of the thunderstorms associated with this line will be strong to
severe, with damaging winds the main concern. Large hail, the
formation of a few tornadoes, and brief heavy downpours with the
stronger thunderstorms leading to localized minor flooding may be
possible too. Breezy surface and 20 foot wind conditions are
expected through most of the morning to early afternoon hours also,
with gusts to around 35 mph possible. This line of showers and
thunderstorms will be associated with a strong surface cold frontal
passage that will move to roughly near the I-65 cooridor by mid day,
and move quickly east of the mid state by the mid afternoon hours.
Total rainfall amounts associated with these showers and thunderstorms
should range from around 0.25 inch to 1.25 inches. Minimum afternoon
relative humidity values should range from mid 40s across northwestern
portions of Highland Rim District North to mid 60s across southern
portions of Cumberland District North this afternoon.

Colder air associated with stronger high pressure influences will
build across the mid state region tonight and into Thursday and
Friday. Minimum afternoon relative humidity values on Thursday will
be in the upper 20s to lower 30s, but 20 foot wind speeds will be
rather light. A warmup in temperatures is expected over this weekend
as high pressure influences shift eastward. Another frontal system
will move into the mid state region Monday night into Tuesday
resulting in a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
