...POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS EXPECTED FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL
AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO TUESDAY...

.A Pacific storm system crossing the Great Basin this evening
will race across New Mexico on Tuesday. An associated cold front
combined with very strong winds aloft that will mix down to the
surface and create widespread strong to potentially damaging
winds across portions of central and eastern New Mexico from late
tonight into early Tuesday evening.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
7 PM MST TUESDAY...

* LOCATION...From the Sandia, Manzano and South Central
  mountains, the Central and South Central Highlands, Eastern
  Lincoln and Southwest Chaves Counties.

* WINDS...West to southwest at 30 to 45 mph with gusts of 60 to
  70 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will increase rapidly tonight, peak from midday
  through the afternoon, then diminish in the evening.

* VISIBILITY...Could be reduced to 3 miles in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high-profile vehicles should be prepared for these potentially
  dangerous high winds, especially on north to south oriented
  highways, including U.S. Highways 285 and 54.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remember, A High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

* LOCATION...Guadalupe, Quay, Curry, Roosevelt and De Baca
  Counties and the Chaves County Plains.

* WINDS...West to southwest at 30 to 45 mph with gusts of 55 to
  65 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will increase rapidly early Tuesday morning,
  peak from midday through the afternoon, then diminish in the
  evening.

* VISIBILITY...Could be reduced to 1 mile in blowing dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
  high-profile vehicles should be prepared for these potentially
  dangerous high winds, especially on north to south oriented
  highways, including U.S. Highways 285, 84 and 54.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 7 PM MST
TUESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to 7 PM MST
Tuesday.

* LOCATION...Estancia Valley, Far Northeast Highlands and
  Northeast Highlands.

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to near 50 mph
  shifting west 30 to 35 mph with occasional gusts to near 55 mph
  around mid day Tuesday.

* TIMING...Winds increasing overnight and peaking mid day Tuesday
  with the passage of a cold front. Winds decreasing Tuesday
  evening.

* VISIBILITY...Occasionally limited to between 3 and 5 miles in
  blowing snow mid to late day Tuesday.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Hazardous crosswinds will impact north-south
  oriented roadways, such as Interstate 25 between Las Vegas and
  Raton. Lightweight objects may become airborne.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

  Highlands and the Northeast Plains.

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to near 45 mph,
  shifting west 30 to 35 mph with occasional gusts to near 50 mph
  around mid day Tuesday.

* TIMING...Winds increasing through the morning hours and peaking
  around mid day with the passage of a cold front. Winds
  decreasing Tuesday evening.

* VISIBILITY...Occasionally reduced to between 3 and 5 miles in
  blowing dust or blowing snow mid to late day Tuesday.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Hazardous crosswinds will impact north-south
  oriented roadways, such as Interstate 25 between Socorro and
  Albuquerque. Lightweight objects may become airborne.
