Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...A system moving through the region will bring snow
to western South Dakota...mainly the Black Hills area where 1 to 3
inches of snow is possible. Surrounding plains will receive an
inch or less. Cooler temperatures will continue through Sunday,
then warmer temperatures are expected Monday and continuing
through midweek.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the moderate category
this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a lowering
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire
occurrence. Do not leave outdoor fires unattended under these
conditions.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category to moderate category.

The grassland fire danger index will reach the low category this
afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fire occurrence is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions.

will reach the low category.
