HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GREAT FALLS MT

...AN ICE JAM CONTINUES ON THE JEFFERSON RIVER NEAR TWIN BRIDGES...

OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS...AN ICE JAM HAS DEVELOPED ON THE JEFFERSON
RIVER...MAINLY BETWEEN TWIN BRIDGES AND SILVER STAR. THIS ALSO
INCLUDES LOCATIONS NEAR JEFFERSON ACRES.

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS ICE JAM TO LAST A LONG PERIOD OF
TIME. BECAUSE ICE JAMS ARE UNPREDICTABLE...THERE IS THE
POTENTIAL THAT FLOODING COULD DEVELOP ALONG THE RIVER IF THE
ICE CONTINUES TO BUILD.

ALTHOUGH NO FLOODING IS OCCURRING AS OF TUESDAY
MORNING...THE RIVER IS NEAR BANEFUL IN PLACES. THUS LAND OWNERS
ALONG THE JEFFERSON RIVER SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR LATER
STATEMENTS AND UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL TELEVISION
OR RADIO STATION FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION.
