Big Island Windward Waters... * Until 1145 PM HST. * At 943 PM HST, a strong thunderstorm was located 18 nm northeast of FAD Buoy G, or 28 nm east of Hakalau, moving northeast at 10 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * The strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts.
