Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southern Wisconsin
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
259 PM CDT Thu Apr 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will build into the Northern Plains through the end
of this week & this weekend, resulting in west-northwest winds
across southern Wisconsin. Said winds will allow a dry, Canadian
air mass to work into the area, leading to significantly lower
relative humidity minimums relative to today. Expect readings to
fall into the low to mid 30 percents on Friday, with values
ranging from the upper 30 to low 40 percents on Saturday.
Anticipate milder high temperatures on Friday, which could result
in minimum relative humidities falling into the upper 20s if
readings climb higher than currently forecast. Westerly transport
winds will rise into the 25-35 MPH range Friday afternoon,
combining with mixing heights in the 6000-6500+ ft AGL range to
support excellent smoke dispersal conditions. Anticipate mixing
heights to remain generally in the 3000-4000 ft AGL range near the
Lake Michigan shoreline given cooler temperatures, though smoke
dispersal conditions are expected to remain excellent. West-
northwest transport winds will be lighter, albeit still breezy, on
Saturday. Winds will combine with mixing heights in the 3500-5500+
ft AGL range to support good to excellent smoke dispersal
conditions. Precip-free conditions will prevail through the
upcoming weekend.
