Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas
National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM
104 PM MDT Sat May 4 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT SUNDAY...
...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
An easterly push will arrive overnight for areas east of the Rio
Grande bringing decent overnight recoveries for the eastern half
of the forecast area. Westerly winds will push that air mass back
to the east throughout the day, allowing min RH values to drop
back into the single digits tomorrow afternoon. Winds will top out
around 20 MPH, leaving much of the area near-critical to critical
with the strongest winds along and west of the Rio Grande. A Red
Flag Warning is in effect for New Mexico Zones. Critical
conditions become more widespread on Monday with a Fire Weather
Watch in effect for all zones. Vent rates will be excellent.
