Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
239 PM EDT Tue Apr 16 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Ridging remains aloft over the Gulf of Mexico this afternoon, with
surface high pressure centered east of Florida. This overall pattern
will remain in place through the next couple of days before heights
lower some later this week in response to some southern stream
shortwave energy. Northwest flow briefly develops aloft on Friday as
a trough develops over the Atlantic, then zonal flow takes hold once
again through the weekend and early next week. At the surface, the
ridge sinks southward for the end of the week and through the
weekend before a frontal boundary moves toward the peninsula.
Temperatures will warm each day, most noticeably lows, and rain
chances remain minimal with subsidence over the region. The next
notable rain chance will be Monday with the boundary.
