...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...

.Heavy rainfall this week will produce rises on the Tallapoosa
River. However, levels are expected to remain below established
flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor
nature.


The Tallapoosa River at Milstead.
* At 9:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 3.9 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 40.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will fall to 3.7 feet just after midnight
  tonight. It will then rise to 17.9 feet early Friday morning. It
  will fall to 17.5 feet early Friday afternoon. It will then rise
  to 20.9 feet Saturday morning. It will fall again and remain below
  flood stage.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Overflow of pasture lands occurs. Cattle
  may need to be moved if higher stages are forecast.

Another statement will be issued by Wednesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
