Regional Weather Summary For Eastern Kansas
National Weather Service Wichita KS
500 PM CDT Wed May 25 2016

Diminishing cloud cover through the afternoon allowed for additional
surface heating with temperatures climbing to around 80 degrees in
northern and southeastern Kansas to near 90 degrees for the south
central area. It was certainly a muggy one out there. Southerly
winds were 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

Severe weather is possible this evening across the central and
eastern parts of Kansas into Oklahoma as a surface low pressure
system attempts to push east. Potential hazards include golf ball
sized hail, 70 mph winds, tornadoes, and heavy rain which could
cause flooding. Please stay vigilant this evening and tonight for
any warnings that will be issued. Overnight lows are forecast to be
around 70 degrees for all but the High Plains which will range from
the low 50s in western Nebraska to around 60 degrees in southwest
Kansas due to their position behind a cold frontal boundary. Winds
will be variable at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday will bring another round of severe weather across the
Central Plains. The main time frame appears to be in the afternoon
and evening. There are some chances of precipitation in the morning
for northeast Kansas and Missouri. Temperatures will be in the mid
80s to low 90s for all areas except western Nebraska, northeastern
Colorado, and northwest Kansas which will have highs in the mid 70s
due to the cooler air behind the cold front. Breezy winds out of the
south are anticipated for southern Kansas into the panhandles.
