...National Hurricane Preparedness Week is from May 5 to May 11...
...Get Moving When a Storm Threatens...

When a storm is forecast to impact your area, take action
immediately to be ready. Ideally, longer-term preparedness actions
such as having disaster supplies and an evacuation plan will have
already been done before hurricane season, when the stores are
stocked and time is on your side.

Protect your home: cover windows, secure door and loose items.

Determine sheltering options and consider your pets. Most public
shelters only allow service animals.

Ready your go bag, including hygiene products, medicines, and any
other basic survival needs for at least a three days. Keep your
phone charged and make sure to bring a charger. Fill up or charge
your vehicle. Important personal and property documents should also
be brought along.

Help your neighbors, especially the elderly and other vulnerable
people.

Follow evacuation orders if given.
