PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety Message...Do not drive into flooded areas. Shallow flowing
water can wash a car from the roadway. Also, the roadbed may be
washed out under the water.

and local media.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Cottonwood River near Emporia.
* until Thursday morning.
* At  1:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 21.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  this afternoon.
* Impact...At 23.0 feet...North bank of the Cottonwood River begins to
  flood. Lowland flooding occurs along the Cottonwood River from
  Plymouth to Neosho Rapids.

* At  1:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 21.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Fell below flood stage at  6:30 PM Tuesday.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to 16.9 feet by Thursday
  morning.
* Impact...At 22.0 feet...Low lying areas along the river flood.
