...SHAWNEE COUNTY...

.DISCUSSION...

AVIATION...(FOR THE 00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z THURSDAY EVENING)
ISSUED AT 629 PM CDT WED SEP 10 2014

THE CHALLENGE FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD WILL BE THE UNCERTAINTY OF
CIGS AND THE TIMING OF MVFR AND POTENTIAL IFR CONDITIONS WHICH
WILL LIKELY CAUSE SOME AMENDMENTS TO THE CURRENT TAFS. GENERAL
EXPECTATION IS THAT WE WILL SEE SOME CHANGES OVER THE NEXT 6 HRS
AT KMHK SUGGESTING IMPROVING CONDITIONS IN THE SHORT TERM. KTOP AND
KFOE EXPECT TO CONTINUE WITH MVFR CONDITIONS UNTIL AFTER 12Z.
AFTER THE 12Z TIME FRAME THE EXPECTATION STARTS TO LOOK BETTER
INTO THE LATE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON TIME FRAME AT ALL
LOCATIONS WHEN WE SHOULD START SEEING MORE CLEARLY DEFINED CIGS
AS THE SURFACE RIDGING TAKES BETTER HOLD OVER THE REGION.
CURRENTLY, WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN STRONG ENOUGH AND ALSO
WITH ENOUGH CLOUD COVER OVER THE REGION FOG POTENTIAL REMAINS LOW.
