REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR EASTERN KANSAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TOPEKA KS
148 PM CDT TUE APR 22 2014

MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES IN PLACE THIS MORNING WITH SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE REGION. BY LATE MORNING TEMPERATURES
HAD REACHED INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 60S ACROSS EASTERN NEBRASKA
AND EASTERN KANSAS AND INTO THE LOW TO MID 70S OVER WESTERN
NEBRASKA AND WESTERN KANSAS. WINDS WERE BECOMING BREEZY OUT OF THE
SOUTH ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS WITH GUSTS UPWARDS OF 35 TO 40 MPH.

AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY WILL PEAK IN THE UPPER 60S TO
LOW 70S ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS AND INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 70S
OVER WESTERN KANSAS. CLOUD COVER WILL INCREASE OVERNIGHT AS A
SHORTWAVE MOVES INTO WESTERN KANSAS...IN WHICH A FEW SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS WESTERN
AND CENTRAL KANSAS TONIGHT THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. THIS
ACTIVITY MAY SPREAD INTO NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEASTERN KANSAS
WEDNESDAY MORNING. THIS INCREASED CLOUD COVER WILL RESULT IN
WARMER OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES WITH LOWS IN THE UPPER 40S OVER
EASTERN KANSAS TO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 50S ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS.
THE SCATTERED PRECIPITATION SHOULD DIMINISH DURING THE AFTERNOON
HOURS...WITH BREEZY SOUTHERLY WINDS HELPING TO BOOST HIGH
TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 70S OVER EASTERN KANSAS TO THE LOWER
80S ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS. THESE WINDS COULD GUST UPWARDS OF 35 TO
45 MPH DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS CENTRAL
KANSAS. BETTER CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION COME WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO
THURSDAY AS A COLD FRONT TRACKS EASTWARD ACROSS THE STATE.
