.SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST SWELLS AND STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL LEAD
TO A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FOR THE BEACHES FROM CAPE HATTERAS
SOUTH TODAY. ROUGH SURF WITH BREAKING WAVES APPROACHING 8 FEET
ARE EXPECTED EARLY THIS MORNING...ESPECIALLY FOR THE SOUTH FACING
BEACHES BETWEEN CAPE HATTERAS AND OCRACOKE.

EVENING...

* HAZARDS...HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS.

* LOCATION...CAPE HATTERAS SOUTH.

* TIMING AND TIDES...THE MOST LIKELY TIME FOR STRONG RIP
  CURRENTS TO OCCUR IS A COUPLE HOURS EITHER SIDE OF LOW TIDE,
  WHICH WILL OCCUR AROUND 2 PM THURSDAY.

* SURF HEIGHT...5 TO 8 FEET SOUTH OF CAPE HATTERAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT REMAIN CALM. DON`T FIGHT THE CURRENT.
SWIM IN A DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. WHEN OUT OF THE
CURRENT, SWIM BACK TO SHORE. IF TIRED, FLOAT OR TREAD WATER UNTIL
OUT OF THE RIP CURRENT. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE SHORE AND
CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.
