...WARM AND WET SEPTEMBER FOR COLD BAY...

IN  SEPTEMBER 2014 COLD BAY SET THE RECORD AS THE WARMEST IN RECORDED HISTORY. THE
MOST INFLUENTIAL WEATHER PATTERN FOR THE MONTH WAS A SERIES OF LOWS WHICH PROVIDED
PREDOMINANTLY CLOUDY SKIES THAT LEAD TO MANY HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURES THAT HELPED
RAISE THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE INTO THE RECORD SPOT. WINDS WERE PREDOMINATELY FROM A
SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION.

ALL MONTHLY TEMPERATURE AVERAGES WERE ALL IN THE TOP FOUR ON RECORD FOR THE MONTH
OF SEPTEMBER. THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE SECOND WARMEST...THE AVERAGE
LOW TEMPERATURE WAS TIED FOR THE FORTH WARMEST ON RECORD AND THE OVERALL AVERAGE
MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST ON RECORD. COLD BAY SET FIVE NEW RECORDS FOR
HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE AND TIED ONE RECORD FOR THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE.

NEW TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET ON...

09/07/2014 NEW RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 55 DEGREES REPLACING THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 52 DEGREES SET IN 1984.

09/08/2014 NEW RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 53 DEGREES REPLACING THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 51 DEGREES SET IN 1990.

09/09/2014 NEW RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 53 DEGREES REPLACING THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 52 DEGREES SET IN 1994.

09/10/2014 NEW RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 53 DEGREES REPLACING THE

09/11/2014 NEW RECORD MAXIMUM MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 54 DEGREES REPLACING THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 51 DEGREES SET IN 1994.

TIED TEMPERATURE RECORDS OCCURRED ON...

08/05/2014 RECORDED MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 58 DEGREES TIED THE PREVIOUS SET IN
2005.

SEPTEMBER 2014 WAS A WET ONE WITH OVER FIVE INCHES OF RAINFALL.  COLD BAY HAD
SEVENTEEN DAYS WHEN MORE THAN 0.01 OF RAIN FELL AND ONE DAY WITH OVER AN INCH. ONE
NEW PRECIPITATION RECORD WAS BROKEN WHEN 1.08 INCHES OF RAIN FELL ON THE 11TH.
THIS REPLACES THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 1.04 INCHES SET IN 1990.
