JUNE 2014 WAS AN ACTIVE WEATHER MONTH WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND PRECIPITATION.

TEMPERATURES FOR THE MONTH ENDED UP ONE TO TWO DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
THERE WERE 3 COOL DOWNS DURING JUNE AS SPRING SLOWLY GAVE WAY TO
SUMMER. THE FIRST AND SECOND CAUSED TEMPERATURES TO FALL MORE THAN
DID THE THIRD. IN GENERAL... THE WARM TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE MONTH MORE THAN BALANCED OUT THE LAST HURRAHS OF
SPRING.

MORE THAN HALF OF THE DAYS OF JUNE 2014 HAD MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION
AS MANY WEATHER SYSTEMS MOVED ACROSS THE CONTINENT AND OVER THE
GREAT LAKES REGION. TOTALS FOR JUNE VARIED FROM AROUND 3 INCHES
ACROSS CENTRAL LOWER MICHIGAN TO OVER 7 INCHES IN THE FAR SOUTHWEST.
THE VALUES WERE 200 PERCENT OF NORMAL IN THE FAR SOUTHWEST TO NEAR
NORMAL ELSEWHERE.

THE ACTIVE WEATHER ALSO BROUGHT STRONG TO SEVERE HAIL... WIND AND
RAIN STORMS TO THE REGION ON 9 DAYS OUT OF THE MONTH. DAMAGING WINDS
AND FLOODING WERE THE MAIN HAZARDS WITH HAIL WITH DIAMETERS OVER AN
INCH LIMITED MAINLY THE 18TH AND 25TH.
