FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR ALASKA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANCHORAGE AK
353 PM AKDT FRI MAY 27 2016

.DISCUSSION...
HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO BRING WARMING AND DRYING CONDITIONS TO THE
SOUTHWEST MAINLAND OVER THE COURSE OF THIS WEEKEND. THIS WILL BRING THE DRIEST
AIR OF THE SEASON TO MOST AREAS...WITH MIN RH`S FALLING BELOW 30 PERCENT WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 70`S FOR MANY INTERIOR LOCATIONS SAT-SUN. THIS PATTERN WILL
ALSO BRING OFFSHORE FLOW THROUGHOUT THE REGION THIS WEEKEND...WHICH MAY BE GUSTY
AT TIMES DURING THE AFTERNOON-EVENING HOURS. PRECIPITATION WILL BE LARGELY
LIMITED BY RIDING OVERHEAD UNTIL SATURDAY WHEN AFTERNOON/EVENING SHOWERS WILL
BEGIN TO DEVELOP ALONG THE ALASKA RANGE. THESE SHOWERS WILL THEN REDEVELOP AND
BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD AND STRENGTHEN ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING AS AN UPPER
LEVEL DISTURBANCE APPROACHES FROM THE GULF OF ALASKA. THIS DISTURBANCE MAY
ALSO BRING A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES TO THE ALASKA AND ALEUTIAN RANGES ON SUNDAY.
