FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
450 AM EDT SUN AUG 28 2016

...INCREASING CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND STORMS TODAY...

.DISCUSSION...
SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE WILL BRING MOISTURE INTO THE REGION TODAY AND KEEP
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES IN THE 40 PERCENT RANGE. WINDS WILL
BE INCREASING LATE THIS MORNING AND AFTERNOON IN RESPONSE OF THE
APPROACHING TROUGH AND THIS SHOULD CREATE WIND GUSTS FROM THE
SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST IN THE 15 TO 25 MPH RANGE. ALSO INCREASING
TODAY...ESPECIALLY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...WILL BE THE
POTENTIAL FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THE GREATEST THREAT FOR
THIS ACTIVITY WILL BE ACROSS THE NORTHERN ADIRONDACKS AND NORTHERN
AND CENTRAL SECTIONS OF VERMONT. GUSTY WINDS AND BRIEF HEAVY
DOWNPOURS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY OF THE STORMS. THE SHOWERS AND
STORMS WILL QUICKLY TAPER OFF AFTER MIDNIGHT BUT STILL LINGER INTO
MONDAY MORNING. HIGH PRESSURE MOVES IN BEGINNING MONDAY AFTERNOON
AND BRINGS DRIER AIR WITH IT ON GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS. HUMIDITIES
AND WIND SPEEDS WILL NOT REACH ANY LEVELS OF CONCERN. DRY WEATHER
CONTINUES INTO TUESDAY BEFORE ANOTHER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES
IN ON WEDNESDAY FOR A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. FOLLOWING THIS TROUGH
WILL BE A PERIOD OF BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE REMAINDER OF
THE WEEK AND CONTINUING INTO THE WEEKEND.
