FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
230 PM PDT THU APR 24 2014

...THUNDERSTORM THREAT FRIDAY...
...MUCH WARMER NEXT WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A COOL AND UNSETTLED PATTERN WILL CONTINUE
TO IMPACT THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THE NEXT ORGANIZED FRONTAL
SYSTEM MOVES IN LATE SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. LONGER RANGE
CHARTS INDICATE A MUCH WARMER AND DRIER PATTERN SETTING UP AROUND
THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...A COOLER AND UNSETTLED AIR MASS WILL REMAIN OVER THE
DISTRICT THROUGH FRIDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL DROP TO JUST BELOW THE
CASCADE PASSES AND IT WILL BE UNSTABLE ENOUGH FRIDAY FOR A THREAT
OF LIGHTNING. THERE LOOKS TO BE A SHORT BREAK FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH
EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON...BEFORE THE NEXT FRONTAL SYSTEM MOVES IN
LATER SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. EXPECT WIDESPREAD WETTING RAIN
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. ANOTHER WEAK DISTURBANCE DRIFTS ACROSS
THE AREA MONDAY. LONGER RANGE CHARTS ARE TRENDING TOWARD A MUCH
WARMER AND DRIER PATTERN BEGINNING TUESDAY AND LASTING THROUGH AT
LEAST THURSDAY.
