Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1055 PM MDT Wed Jun 28 2017

...A RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON UNTIL 8 PM MDT
THURSDAY FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE
WEATHER ZONES 222...223 AND 224 WHICH INCLUDES FREMONT
COUNTY...THE SAN LUIS VALLEY...THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS AND THE LA
GARITA MOUNTAINS...

.Discussion...

Warm, dry and windy conditions will occur across the mountains
and valleys Thursday. Red Flag conditions are expected to occur
along the Continental Divide, the San Luis Valley and Fremont
County, where fuels have been deemed critical. The eastern plains
are expected to remain very warm as well, but a cold front
dropping south across the plains through the afternoon will
produce brisk northeast surface winds as well as isolated
convection through the afternoon and evening hours.

Cooler weather along with a better chance of storms, some
potentially strong to severe are anticipated from Friday into
Friday night, favoring locations along and near the Interstate
25 corridor.

Smoke dispersion is forecast to become poor for all areas between
2000 and 2200 tonight. Surface based inversions will begin to
break, at first over the higher terrain, between 0800 and 1000
tomorrow morning, with all areas improving to very good to
excellent ventilation rates by 1300.
