FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST VIRGINIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
441 PM EST SUN FEB 1 2015

.DISCUSSION...
A STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKING ACROSS NORTHERN OHIO
AND PENNSYLVANIA...WILL MAKE FOR A WET NIGHT TONIGHT...WITH
INCREASING WINDS.

ITS ASSOCIATED STRONG COLD FRONT WHIPS ACROSS THE MIDDLE OHIO
VALLEY AND CENTRAL APPALACHIANS...LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY
MORNING.

AS TEMPERATURES FALL SHARPLY BEHIND THE FRONT...THE RAIN WILL CHANGE
TO WIND BLOWN SNOW SHOWERS. THE QUICK HITTING SNOW SHOWERS AND
FALLING TEMPERATURES WILL MAKE UNTREATED ROADS ICY AND SNOW
COVERED. THIS WILL HAPPEN DURING THE MORNING RUSH UP INTO THE OHIO
RIVER COUNTIES...AND THEN LATER MONDAY MORNING FARTHER TO THE SOUTH
AND EAST. ACCUMULATIONS OF AN INCH OR SO FOR THE LOWLANDS...WITH
TWO TO FOUR INCHES OVER THE MORE MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN OF WEST
VIRGINIA ARE EXPECTED.

AS THE AIR TURNS COLDER...IT ALSO BECOMES DRIER IN THE OHIO VALLEY
COUNTIES MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE LAST OF THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL TAPER
OFF IN THE MOUNTAINS MONDAY EVENING. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN FOR
TUESDAY.

ANOTHER COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PASS...LONG ABOUT LATE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT. SOME MINOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS COULD OCCUR...BUT THE MAIN
RESULT WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL SHOT OF ARCTIC AIR ARRIVING FOR THURSDAY
INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

AT LEAST...HIGH PRESSURE SHOULD BE IN CONTROL FOR THURSDAY NIGHT
INTO SATURDAY MORNING FOR A DRY...TRANQUIL ENVIRONMENT.
