Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
359 PM CST Thu Feb 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Gusty south winds and lowering relative humidities this afternoon were experienced across
much of northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma, and to a lesser degree over southwest Arkansas and
northwest Louisiana. Relative humidities ranged from around 30 percent over southeast Oklahoma and
to between 40 and 50 across portions of northern Louisiana. South winds increased to 15 to 25 mph
where the humidities were lowest as well. A cold front will result in a gradual shifting of winds to the
west and northwest by Friday afternoon, with relative humidities falling to 15 to 25 percent
over portions of the Red River valley. The very dry airmass will work its day into remaining portions
of the area by late in the day. Relative humidities under still sunny skies Saturday will fall to between
25 and 30 percent for most of the area. Humidity will increase Sunday with rain chances returning for the
first part of next week.
