...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ANCHORAGE HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST SATURDAY.

* LOCATION...KODIAK ISLAND AND THE EASTERN ALASKA PENINSULA.

* WIND...WEST TO NORTHWEST 40 TO 55 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 75 MPH.
  GUSTS AS HIGH AS 80 TO 90 MPH ARE POSSIBLE IN EXPOSED LOCATIONS
  ALONG SHELIKOF STRAIT AND OUT OF TERRAIN GAPS ALONG THE ALASKA
  PENINSULA.

* TIMING...INITIALLY THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL IMPACT CHANNELED
  TERRAIN ALONG SHELIKOF STRAIT BUT SPREAD EAST ACROSS KODIAK
  ISLAND BECOMING MORE WIDESPREAD LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
  A SECONDARY AND POSSIBLY STRONGER PEAK WILL OCCUR DURING THE
  EARLY MORNING HOURS BETWEEN AROUND MIDNIGHT AND 4 AM. WINDS ARE
  ANTICIPATED TO DIMINISH BELOW WARNING LEVELS BY MIDDAY SATURDAY.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL MAY BE DIFFICULT. TREES MAY BE BLOWN OVER.
  LOOSE DEBRIS CAN BE MOVED AND DAMAGE PROPERTY. BOATS AND
  AIRCRAFT SHOULD BE WELL SECURED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. PEOPLE ARE URGED TO SECURE LOOSE OBJECTS THAT COULD
BE BLOWN AROUND OR DAMAGED BY THE WIND.
