PYRAMID LAKE...

The Lake Wind Advisory for Pyramid Lake will expire at 8 PM PDT
this evening.

Winds will remain gusty tonight on Pyramid Lake, but the Lake
Wind Advisory will be expired due to the lake being closed
overnight.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* Timing: Winds increase this evening, with strongest winds
  expected in valleys later tonight between 10 PM and 2 AM.
  Foothill areas can expect strong and gusty winds through early
  Friday morning.

* Winds: Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Gusts
  up to 70 mph in wind prone locations such as Washoe Valley
  and foothills around Reno, Carson City and Minden.

* Impacts: Strong, possibly damaging winds are possible. Travel
  restrictions for high profile vehicles are likely. Follow
  instructions on highway signs and do not attempt to travel
  on restricted highways. Winds could be strong enough to push
  your vehicle out of your travel lane. Check with NDOT or
  CalTrans for the latest road information.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, holiday
decorations and trash cans before winds increase which could blow
these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time
by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights
with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power
outage.

* Timing: Winds will increase this evening. Strongest wind gusts
  are expected late this evening into early Friday morning.

* Winds: Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Gusts
  up to 65 mph in wind prone locations such as the Highway 395
  corridor. Ridgetop winds near 100 mph.

* Impacts: High profile vehicles should avoid wind prone areas
  such as Highway 395 from Topaz Lake into Inyo County. Winds
  could be strong enough to push your vehicle out of your
  travel lane. Stay off area lakes. Check with NDOT or
  CalTrans for the latest road information.

...LAKE WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY FOR
LAKE TAHOE...

* Winds: Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Wave Heights: 2 to 4 feet from mid-lake to eastern shores.

* Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
  capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions
  improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
