...WACO CLIMATE NARRATIVE FOR FEBRUARY 2015...

IT WAS A COLDER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY ACROSS CENTRAL TEXAS. THE
AVERAGE HIGH AT WACO WAS 58.0 DEGREES (3.8 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL).
THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 35.2 (4.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL).  THIS RESULTED
IN AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 46.6 DEGREES WHICH IS 4.2 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL. WE WEREN`T COLD FOR THE WHOLE MONTH AS HIGHS REACHED AT
LEAST 70 DEGREES ON 6 DAYS INCLUDING FEBRUARY 9TH WHEN THE HIGH WAS
80 DEGREES!  OF COURSE, THE COLD WEATHER WAS THE BIGGER STORY. THE
LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH BROUGHT US 4 DAYS WHEN THE HIGH DIDN`T RISE
OUT OF THE 30S. THREE OF THESE DAYS...FEB 23RD...27TH AND 28TH SET
DAILY RECORD COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURES.

WACO HAD A DRIER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY. THE MONTHLY RAINFALL TOTAL
WAS 1.25 INCHES WHICH WAS 1.38 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. MOST OF THE
MONTH WAS VERY DRY AS ONLY A TRACE OF PRECIPITATION HAD FALLEN
THROUGH THE FIRST 3 WEEKS OF FEBRUARY. WE RECEIVED ALL OF OUR
MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION DURING THE LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH.

WACO RECEIVED 0.7 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE MONTH...WHICH FELL ON
FEBRUARY 25TH.  TRACE AMOUNTS OCCURRED ON 3 OTHER DAYS. ALL OF OUR
MEASURABLE SNOW FOR THE SEASON SO FAR OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY.

THE OVERALL DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY WINTER PERIOD WAS COLDER AND
SLIGHTLY DRIER THAN NORMAL. WACO HAS A WARMER THAN NORMAL DECEMBER
(AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 2.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL) BUT HAD A
COLDER THAN NORMAL JANUARY (2.7 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL) AND FEBRUARY
(4.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL).  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 47.4
DEGREES WHICH PUTS US IN A TIE FOR THE 28TH COLDEST OUT OF THE 114
WINTERS ON RECORD AT WACO.

THE DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY PRECIPITATION TOTAL WAS 5.27 INCHES
WHICH IS 2.23 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THIS WAS WACO`S 34TH DRIEST
WINTER ON RECORD. DECEMBER WAS MUCH DRIER THAN NORMAL (2.21 BELOW
NORMAL), FOLLOWED BY A WETTER THAN NORMAL JANUARY (1.36 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL) AND A DRIER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY (1.38 INCHES BELOW NORMAL).
