...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

IN 1951...A MASSIVE HAIL STORM STRUCK FROM WALLACE TO KEARNEY
COUNTIES IN KANSAS...CAUSING 6 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO
CROPS.

IN 2003...THE TEMPERATURE SOARED TO 104 DEGREES IN GOODLAND
KANSAS...A RECORD FOR THE MONTH OF MAY AND THE EARLIEST IN THE YEAR
THE TEMPERATURE HAD EVER REACHED TRIPLE DIGITS AT THAT LOCATION.

IN 2007...A LARGE COMPLEX OF THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCED WIDESPREAD
STRONG TO DAMAGING WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE TRI STATE AREA. WIND
GUSTS TO 80 MPH DAMAGED A LARGE GRAIN BIN AND SNAPPED FOUR UTILITY
POLES SOUTHWEST OF ECKLEY COLORADO.
