...MEDFORD OREGON WEATHER REVIEW: JUNE 2014...

JUNE 2014 BROUGHT A MIXED BAG OF WEATHER FOR THE MEDFORD AREA.
DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE MONTH, MEDFORD EXPERIENCED NEAR NORMAL
TEMPERATURES WITH AVERAGES READING ABOUT 5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE
TWO BULLS WILDFIRE JUST OUTSIDE OF BEND, OREGON SENT SMOKE INTO THE
ROGUE VALLEY ON THE 9TH. THANKFULLY, THE VALLEY ONLY HAD TO ENDURE
ONE DAY OF SMOKY CONDITIONS. TROUGHING SET IN OVER THE REGION AROUND
THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH, BRINGING TEMPERATURES DOWN TO AROUND 5 TO
10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL FOR ABOUT A WEEK. ON THE 12TH, WINDY
CONDITIONS BROUGHT SOME TREES DOWN IN MEDFORD AND ROGUE RIVER,
RESULTING IN SOME TEMPORARY POWER OUTAGES. TEMPERATURES WARMED TO
NEAR NORMAL AGAIN FOR ABOUT ANOTHER WEEK. AFTERWARD, A SPRING-LIKE
SYSTEM BROUGHT WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TO THE AREA. THE MEDFORD AIRPORT
MEASURED 0.54 INCHES BETWEEN THE 25TH AND 26TH, WHICH WAS CERTAINLY
SIGNIFICANT BY LATE JUNE`S STANDARDS. AFTER THIS SYSTEM EXITED THE
AREA, A STRONG WARMING TREND BEGAN. THE MONTH ENDED WITH THE HOTTEST
DAY MEDFORD HAS SEEN SO FAR IN 2014, TOPPING OUT AT 99 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE WAS 67.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.9
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS 83.3
DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE MINIMUM

HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 99 DEGREES ON THE 30TH. THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 44 DEGREES ON THE 14TH AND
AGAIN ON THE 18TH.

THERE WERE 21 CLEAR DAYS, 8 PARTLY CLOUDY DAYS, AND 1 CLOUDY DAY.

TOTAL PRECIPITATION WAS 0.54 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.08 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24 HOUR TOTAL WAS 0.54 INCHES THAT FELL BETWEEN
THE 25TH AND 26TH. THE WATER YEAR (BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 1ST) STANDS
AT 15.10 INCHES WHICH IS 2.57 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. CALENDAR YEAR
PRECIPITATION IS 10.66 INCHES WHICH IS 1.20 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
