...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks: Flat River at Smyrna...Thornapple
River at Caledonia...Kalamazoo River at New Richmond...
.It looks like most locations will see less than a half inch of rain
through tonight with another couple of tenths possible Saturday
night and Sunday. There is a little ice on the rivers, but this
should not cause much in the way of fluctuations. The following
forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 hour precipitation.
For the Flat River Near Smyrna... the latest stage was 4.9 feet at 11
AM Friday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage forecast
is 5.4 feet early Tuesday morning. Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
For the Thornapple River Near Caledonia... the latest stage was 6.8
feet at 11 AM Friday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecast is 8.0 feet Monday morning. Flood stage is 10.0 feet. At
8.0 feet, river is bankfull. Expect overflow into low lying areas
along the river.
For the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond... the latest stage was
14.9 feet at 12 PM Friday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum
stage forecasted is 14.9 feet this afternoon. Flood stage is 17.0
