...ICE ACCUMULATIONS LIKELY LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING...

A WINTER STORM WILL QUICKLY SPREAD PRECIPITATION ACROSS CENTRAL
ILLINOIS AFTER MIDNIGHT. AS TEMPERATURES ALOFT WARM
SIGNIFICANTLY...THE AIR NEAR THE SURFACE WILL REMAIN BELOW
FREEZING INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THIS WILL RESULT IN MUCH OF CENTRAL
ILLINOIS SEEING SEVERAL HOURS OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN...BEGINNING
AFTER MIDNIGHT.

CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT UP TO A TENTH INCH OF ICE
ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS...WITH THE
HIGHEST TOTALS FROM AROUND GALESBURG SOUTHEAST TO BLOOMINGTON.
MOST AREAS WILL LIKELY SEE VERY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS TO
WORK OR SCHOOL TUESDAY MORNING...AS TEMPERATURES BY THAT POINT
WILL STILL BE NEAR FREEZING. HOWEVER...THE ICE WILL QUICKLY MELT
LATE TUESDAY MORNING AS SURFACE TEMPERATURES RISE WELL INTO THE
30S.

PEOPLE WITH TRAVEL PLANS LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING SHOULD
ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME TO REACH THE INTENDED DESTINATION...OR
POSTPONE TRAVEL UNTIL CLOSER TO MIDDAY.
