URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM TO AFFECT THE CENTRAL PLAINS...

.A winter storm will move across the Central Plains this weekend,
bringing accumulating snow and blustery winds. The heaviest snow
will occur generally from Sunday afternoon to early Monday
morning. Preparations for significant snow and blowing snow
should be undertaken. Also, freezing drizzle may precede the
accumulating snow Sunday morning across southwest and central
Nebraska.

EVENING TO 6 AM CST /5 AM MST/ MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Plan on difficult
  travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches
  expected.

* WHERE...Hooker, McPherson, Perkins and Chase Counties.

* WHEN...5 PM MST today to 5 AM MST Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause
  areas of blowing and drifting snow. Freezing drizzle is possible
  early Sunday morning, which would create slick conditions
  before the snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice are expected. This will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Strong winds are also possible. The latest road

  travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches
  expected.

* WHERE...Western Nebraska.

* WHEN...6 PM today to 6 AM Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will cause
  patchy blowing and drifting snow. Freezing drizzle is possible
  Sunday morning south of Highway 2, which would create slick
  conditions before the snow.

  travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 11 inches
  are expected.

* WHERE...Western and north central Nebraska.

* WHEN...6 AM Sunday to noon Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause
  areas of blowing and drifting snow. Freezing drizzle is possible
  Sunday morning south of Highway 2, which would create slick
  conditions before the snow.
