URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...MODERATE SNOW TODAY IN THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS...

...HEAVY SNOW FRIDAY IN THE MOUNTAINS...

.A WET STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING TWO SNOW STORMS TO THE MOUNTAINS
TODAY AND FRIDAY. MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED
TODAY...FOLLOWED BY HEAVIER SNOW FRIDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. THE
SNOW LEVEL WILL MOSTLY BE BETWEEN 5000 AND 5500 FEET. SNOWFALL
AMOUNTS WILL BE HIGHLY VARIABLE...BUT SOME LOCATIONS COULD RECEIVE
6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW TODAY AND 1 TO 2 FEET OF SNOW FRIDAY AND
FRIDAY NIGHT. A THIRD STORM WILL BRING RAIN SUNDAY...THEN TURN TO
SNOW SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AND POSSIBLY LINGERING INTO
TUESDAY. STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL OCCUR AT TIMES AS WELL ALONG
WITH DENSE FOG.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM PST SATURDAY...

* SNOW LEVELS...MOSTLY BETWEEN 5000 AND 5500 FEET...BUT LOCALLY
  LOWER ON THE NORTH SLOPES.

* TIMING...TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO A FOOT TODAY. 1 TO 2 FEET FRIDAY AND
  FRIDAY NIGHT. UP TO 6 INCHES COULD FALL AS LOW AS 5000 FEET.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS 20 TO 35 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS
  OVER 50 MPH TODAY. WINDS 25 TO 45 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS OVER 65
  MPH FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT.

* VISIBILITY...NEAR ZERO AT TIMES IN SNOW...BLOWING SNOW AND FOG.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS AT TIMES OVER THE MOUNTAINS
  DUE TO SNOW COVERED ROADS...WINDS AND LOW VISIBILITY.

* OUTLOOK...A WARMER STORM WILL BRING MORE RAIN THAN SNOW SUNDAY...
  BUT WILL TURN TO SNOW SUNDAY NIGHT AND LINGER INTO TUESDAY.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING.  SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF
SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN
AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...
FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
