THIS OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS AS WELL AS
MUCH OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING.
RISK...ELEVATED.
AREA...EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS.
ONSET...ONGOING.

DANGEROUS HEAT.
RISK...LIMITED.
AREA...EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS.
ONSET...EARLY AFTERNOON.

DISCUSSION...
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEGUN TO DEVELOP EARLY THIS
MORNING AND ARE EXPECTED TO EXPAND IN COVERAGE ACROSS EASTERN
OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS DURING THE DAY TODAY. GUSTY WINDS
AND PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL FROM SLOW STORM MOVEMENTS WILL BE
POSSIBLE WITHIN ANY THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. PRECIPITATION
CHANCES SHOULD BEGIN TO DECREASE THIS EVENING WITH THE LOSS OF
DAYTIME HEATING.

ALSO THIS AFTERNOON...TEMPERATURES NEAR THE SEASONAL AVERAGE ALONG
WITH HUMID CONDITIONS WILL HELP TO CREATE HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE
MID 90S FOR FAR NORTHWEST ARKANSAS TO THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 104
DEGREES FOR EASTERN OKLAHOMA INTO WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS.

SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION NOT EXPECTED.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL.
MONDAY...THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL...DANGEROUS HEAT POTENTIAL.
TUESDAY...THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
DAILY THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL REMAIN IN THE FORECAST FOR EASTERN
OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS INTO THE WEEKEND AS UPPER LEVEL
NORTHWESTERLY FLOW SETS UP OVER THE PLAINS. GREATER PRECIPITATION
CHANCES LOOK TO BE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY AND AGAIN FRIDAY
NIGHT INTO SATURDAY AS THUNDERSTORM COMPLEXES COULD PUSH INTO THE
REGION WITHIN THE UPPER FLOW. THUNDERSTORM CHANCES DECREASE SUNDAY
INTO NEXT WEEK TO MAINLY OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN LOCATIONS OF
SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AS A RIDGE OF HIGH
PRESSURE DEVELOPS BACK OVER THE REGION. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR HOT
AND HUMID CONDITIONS TO RETURN TO EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST
ARKANSAS NEXT WEEK.
