AFTERNOON...

.A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL BRING SUNNY SKIES AND
UNSEASONABLE HEAT TO THE REGION THIS WEEK. IN ADDITION TO THE
HEAT... SOUTH WINDS ARE BRINGING RICH GULF MOISTURE NORTH ACROSS
THE REGION. THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS YIELDING
POCKETS OF DANGEROUS HEAT INDICES ACROSS EASTERN OKLAHOMA THIS
AFTERNOON.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* AFFECTED AREA...IN OKLAHOMA...CHOCTAW COUNTY.

* TEMPERATURE...HEAT INDICES FROM 102 TO 106 DEGREES EXPECTED.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
  WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT
  ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE REDUCED, ELIMINATED OR RESCHEDULED
TO THE COOLEST TIME OF THE DAY.  IF YOU MUST BE OUTSIDE, DRINK
PLENTY OF FLUIDS TO AVOID DEHYDRATION. YOUR BODY CAN LOSE UP TO A
GALLON OF WATER AN HOUR THROUGH PERSPIRATION. ALCOHOLIC AND
CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES OR BEVERAGES WITH A HIGH SUGAR CONTENT, CAN
INCREASE THE RATE OF WATER LOSS IN YOUR BODY, INCREASING THE RISK
OF HEAT EXHAUSTION OR STROKE.  WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT, LIGHT-COLORED,
LOOSE-FITTING CLOTHING. WEAR A HAT TO SHIELD YOURSELF FROM THE
