THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TUESDAY TO 8 PM CDT
WEDNESDAY...

FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

 * IN OKLAHOMA...TULSA.

 * THIS REPLACES THE WATCH THAT WAS IN EFFECT.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
 * HEAT AND HUMIDITY TUESDAY AND AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY WILL COMBINE
   TO CREATE DANGEROUS HEAT INDICES BETWEEN 105 AND 110 DEGREES
   ACROSS THE TULSA METRO AREA DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS.
   OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY DROP INTO THE MID 70S
   TUESDAY NIGHT...WHICH WILL NOT PROVIDE MUCH RELIEF FROM THE
   AFTERNOON HEAT. AFTER THE PROLONGED PERIOD OF RECORD SETTING
   COOL TEMPERATURES LATE LAST WEEK...THIS LEVEL OF HEAT COULD BE
   ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS.

IMPACTS...
 * THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL
   COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES
   ARE POSSIBLE.

DEFINITION...
 * AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT
   TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 * TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
   POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
   EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
   STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
   POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

 * TO REDUCE RISK DURING
   OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
   RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR
   CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE
   MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN
   EMERGENCY...CALL 911.
