...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
WEDNESDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT
WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY
EVENING...

FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

 * IN OKLAHOMA...TULSA.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
 * A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL EXPAND OVER THE REGION
   EARLY THIS WEEK...ALLOWING HIGH TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB TO NEAR
   THE CENTURY MARK TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. COMBINING THIS HEAT
   WITH HIGH HUMIDITY IN PLACE WILL YIELD DANGEROUS AFTERNOON
   HEAT INDICES IN THE 105 TO 110 DEGREE RANGE AS SOON AS TUESDAY
   AFTERNOON OVER NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA...CONTINUING INTO WEDNESDAY
   AFTERNOON OVER ALL OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND WEST CENTRAL
   ARKANSAS. OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE TULSA METRO ARE EXPECTED TO
   REMAIN QUITE WARM TUESDAY NIGHT...AND THUS WILL NOT PROVIDE
   MUCH RELIEF FROM THE HEAT.

IMPACTS...
 * THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL
   COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES
   ARE POSSIBLE.

DEFINITION...
 * AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT
   TEMPERATURES IS POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 * TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
   POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
   EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
   STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
   POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

 * TO REDUCE RISK DURING
   OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
   RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR
   CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE
   MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN
   EMERGENCY...CALL 911.
