...Discussion from Monterey...

Northwesterly winds have returned in wake of a cold front moving
across the region. They will become gusty Friday afternoon and
remain so throughout the weekend. Northwesterly gusts look to stay
within the 25 to 30 mph range with isolated stronger gusts up to
40 mph possible in elevated terrain. With this cold frontal
passage, light drizzle is possible throughout the Bay Area
associated but accumulations are not expected to meet the wetting
rain threshold. Cooler, below average temperatures continue through
Friday with drier, warmer conditions expected by mid to late
weekend amd into early next week.

Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds.

...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard...

...WIDESPREAD STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WEST TO NORTH WINDS
THROUGH SATURDAY ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA...

A deep marine layer pattern will persist today, bringing moist and
cool conditions across much of the region, except some downslope
drying expected in the LA county valleys this afternoon. An inside
slider will move across the area through Saturday, bringing a
threat of showers to the region, mainly this afternoon and evening
across interior areas. The highest chances of rain will be near the
Kern County line. Any accumulations will likely be less than
0.25 inches.

West to northwest winds gusting between 30 and 50 mph will continue
today, shifting to the north tonight. While winds are mostly focused
over the interior this morning, they are expected to become
stronger and more widespread across much of the region by this
afternoon (including coastal areas) into tonight. Areas of
strongest and potentially damaging winds are expected this afternoon
into tonight across the I-5 corridor, Antelope Valley, and adjacent
western foothills where gusts of 50 to 65 mph are likely. Northerly
winds are expected to continue across the interior on Saturday, but
are expected to be weaker with gusts mostly in the 30 to 50 mph
range, strongest in the I-5 corridor.

Fairly moist conditions are expected today across much of the
region, except the Los Angeles Valleys which could see some
humidities locally lowering to around 20 percent by late afternoon.
Drier conditions are expected to become more widespread over the
weekend.
