...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1958, a huge winter storm hit the Northeast and
Eastern United States.Interior New England was
overwhelmed by around 2.5 feet of snow and Boston`s Logan
Airport received around 20 inches in 24 hours.Later,
the Mid-Atlantic Coast was walloped by as much as 3 feet
of snow, resulting in 43 deaths and around $500 million
damage.  The Baltimore Washington area received around 15
inches.  In 1936 South Dakota set their all-time record
low temperature when McIntosh, located in North-Central
South Dakota, plunged to 58 below zero.

In 1990, the biggest winter storm of the season slammed
the Pacific Coast.  Snow occurred along the Northern
California Coast.  Two-day totals in the mountains
reached around 5.5 feet at Echo Summit, 4 feet at Green
Valley, and nearly 4 feet at Big Bear, while 2 to 3 foot
accumulations overwhelmed the Oregon Cascades.
