...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1990, thunderstorms developed from West Texas to
Western Arkansas late in the afternoon and evening.
Baseball sized hail hammered parts of the Central Red
River in Silo Oklahoma and near Capps Corner Texas, which
is 80 miles northwest of Dallas.  In 1921, Silver Lake
Colorado, located around 25 miles northwest of Boulder,
was most definitely snowed under when a historic, and
obviously late season, winter storm overwhelmed the
resort with nearly 6.5 feet of snow.  This set a 24-hour
record for the United States.  Overall, 87 inches, 7.25
feet, were measured from this historic winter storm.

In 1994, a blizzard struck Hawaii; of course, not at sea
level.The blizzard closed roads above 10,000 feet on
Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa for 2 days.
