260 FXUS62 KKEY 011450 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1050 AM EDT Wed May 1 2024 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1033 AM EDT Wed May 1 2024 Temperatures this morning are near 80 degrees along the island chain with dew points currently ranging from the lower to mid 70s, reflective of conditions that feel much more like summer. Radar shows some disorganized shower activity over Florida Bay and over the Middle and Upper Keys, but a couple of isolated showers are also occurring over the Deep Gulf. There seems to be some sort of convergence zone between the southern peninsula of Florida and the Upper Keys, and this will help to maintain the shower activity through this afternoon, but guidance continues to reflect a drier period once we get past tonight. Overall, no changes will be made to the forecast package at this time. && .MARINE... Issued at 1033 AM EDT Wed May 1 2024 High pressure centered southwest of Bermuda will continue to meander today. This high will merge with a secondary high diving southward from the North Atlantic, resulting in an extended period of generally moderate easterly breezes for late in the week and into the weekend. Breezes for this period will tend to peak in the evening and overnight hours, then lull during the daytime. && .AVIATION... (15Z TAFS) Issued at 1033 AM EDT Wed May 1 2024 VFR conditions will prevail at both EYW and MTH through the TAF period. Passing showers at MTH could briefly deteriorate conditions to MVFR CIGS or VIS through the afternoon. Near surface winds will be east to southeast at 5 to 10 knots. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
