.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns remain low today due to light wind speeds.
Expect a variable wind direction as a weak, low pressure system
moves into the area of responsibility this early afternoon. Minimum
RH values will range from near 10 percent at the TX/NM state line to
the upper 20 percent range near the 100th meridian with very deep
mixing heights and hot temperatures. Winds will transition to the
south and southeast tonight but will remain light as the surface low
rotates back into eastern New Mexico with RH recovery ranging from
near 40 percent at the TX/NM state line to above 80 percent in the
Rolling Plains. Similar conditions are expected Sunday afternoon,
although winds will become breezy from the south and southwest. This
will mark a steady increase in fire weather concerns Sunday and Monday.
However, there is some question as to how receptive fuels will be to
rapid fire weather growth.
