...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 AM CDT THURSDAY...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following
  counties, Gallatin and Saline.

* WHEN...Until 230 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 837 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
    already occurring in emergency management reported water
    blocking the route to the hospital in Eldorado and numerous
    streets flooded in Harrisburg and Eldorado. . Between 2 and 4
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Harrisburg, Eldorado, Shawneetown, Galatia, Ridgway,
    Equality, Carrier Mills, New Haven, Raleigh, Stonefort,
    Omaha, Old Shawneetown, Junction and Muddy.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
