Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS

.Discussion...
Latest satellite data shows fair weather over the territory as a
a ridge builds to the south. In addition, the upper air sounding
launched by our OSTI Director this afternoon depicts a dry and
stable profile associated with the ridge. As this feature lingers
in the area through Wednesday, expect a gentle breeze and
isolated showers to continue for this time.

Thereafter, the ridge will exit the region on Thursday as it
moves further east. This pattern will slightly enhance and turn
winds in the area from southeast to east. Expect this change in
wind direction to allow for an uptick in showers. Furthermore,
scattered showers will remain as trade winds of 10 to 20 mph
is forecast to dominate over the territory Friday through the new
week.

.Marine...
Current model trends hold wave heights around 4 to 6 feet through
Wednesday night. Seas are still anticipated to build Thursday and
remain around 5 to 7 feet for the rest of the forecast period.
However, if winds reach near 15 knots Friday through Monday with
the expected trades, expect white caps that may warrant a small
craft advisory.
