.DISCUSSION...(Today Through Thursday)
Issued at 236 AM MDT Fri Apr 19 2024

Mean central NOAM negative height anomaly will dominate the
weather through Sat, bringing cold and breezy conds to the region.
Another impulse will rotate around the central Canadian upper low
and support a re-enforcing dose of CAA. This system will again
support breezy NW winds with isolated snow showers across NW SD.
Temps will only top out in the 30s and low 40s today. Sfc high
will shift over the region tonight, supporting clear skies, light
winds, and with very dry air in the region, very cool temps. Lows
will bottom out in the teens across NW SD and NE WY, with some
single digits in the Black Hills. WAA will ensue Sat, but temps
will only gain a few degrees over Fri highs. Mainly dry weather
this weekend, other than some low snow shower chances over the BH
Sat. Shortwave ridging and WAA will persist into next week. This
will bring much warmer temps to the FA starting Sun. However,
unsettled NW flow will support periodic chances for rain/snow
showers next week, starting Sunday night, along with breezy winds
at times.
