Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...Today will be mild and dry, with light to breezy
winds. This will place western SD in the moderate to high
categories. Higher minimum relative humidity is expected for
Wednesday, but very strong northwest winds will create high to
very high fire danger.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this
afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions or a low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is a moderate to high potential for a fire
occurrence. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Wednesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category to very high category.

this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a lowering
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire
occurrence. Do not leave outdoor fires unattended under these
conditions.

The outlook for Wednesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the high category to very high category.
