ON AVERAGE...JANUARY 2015 WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL...WITH AVERAGE
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES LESS THAN 1 DEGREE WARMER THAN NORMAL AND MINIMUM TEMPERATURES
AVERAGING LESS THAN 2 DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. TEMPERATURES REMAINED BELOW
FREEZING FOR THE DURATION OF THE MONTH AS WELL AS BELOW 0 DEGREES FOR 15 TOTAL DAYS
INCLUDING A CONTINUOUS STRETCH LASTING FROM JANUARY 22ND THROUGH THE END OF THE
MONTH. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED DURING THE MONTH WAS 31 DEGREES ON JANUARY
1ST AND THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE OF -43 DEGREES WAS RECORDED ON JANUARY 26TH.

JANUARY WAS ALSO DRIER THAN NORMAL...WITH A LIQUID EQUIVALENT PRECIPITATION TOTAL
OF 0.27 INCHES...ABOUT 25 PERCENT OF THE NORMAL AMOUNT. NEARLY HALF OF THE
PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH OCCURRED ON JANUARY 17TH. 5.9 INCHES OF SNOWFALL WAS
RECORDED DURING THE MONTH...WHICH IS SLIGHTLY MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF THE NORMAL
AMOUNT. THE AVERAGE SNOW DEPTH FOR THE MONTH...12 INCHES...IS ALSO ROUGHLY HALF OF
THE NORMAL AMOUNT.
