...AUGUST WAS DRYER THAN NORMAL IN KOTZEBUE...

AUGUST FOR KOTZEBUE WAS DOMINATED BY A FEW COLD FRONTAL BOUNDARIES AND A SERIES OF LOW PRESSURE TROUGHS. THESE SYSTEMS BROUGHT PREDOMINANTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND MAJORITY OF THE TOTAL PRECIPITATION IN THE LAST TEN DAYS.

THE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE AVERAGES WERE WARMER THAT THE NORMAL FOR MOST OF THE MONTH OF AUGUST. KOTZEBUE ALSO TIED ONE HIGH RECORD TEMPERATURE AND SET FOUR NEW HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS AS WELL AS THREE NEW MINIMUM RECORD TEMPERATURES.

PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST 2014 WAS BELOW THE NORMAL RAIN AVERAGE FOR THE MONTH. THERE WERE NOT ANY DAILY RECORDS BROKEN FOR THE MONTH. THE LAST TEN DAYS SAW AN INCREASE IN THE PRECIPITATION THAT TRIPLED THE EARLIER DAYS.
