            ...A RARE THUNDERSTORM FOR SAINT PAUL ISLAND...
JUNE 2015 FOR SAINT PAUL WAS SIGNIFICANTLY WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL AS HIGH
PRESSURE PREDOMINANTLY CENTERED IN THE CENTRAL BEARING  DOMINATED THE PRIBILOFS.
THIS WEATHER PATTERN PRODUCED NORTHERLY WINDS AND DRIER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS...AS
WELL AS PRODUCED LESS THAN AVERAGE AMOUNTS OF CLOUD COVERAGE WHICH ACCOUNTED FOR
THE HIGHER THAN AVERAGE TEMPERATURES.

ON THE MORNING OF THE 23RD AN UNUSUALLY STRONG INVERTED TROUGH PRODUCED A RARE
OCCURRENCE OF THUNDERSTORMS...WITH ONLY TWO OTHERS FOUND WITHIN THE ARCHIVES. THE
LAST CONFIRMED OCCURRENCE WAS MORE THAN 63 YEARS AGO.

TWO MONTHLY TEMPERATURE AVERAGES WERE AMONG THE TOP TEN ON RECORD FOR THE MONTH OF
JUNE. THE HIGHEST AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE FOURTH WARMEST...THE OVERALL
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS THE EIGHTH WARMEST...ON AVERAGE THE DAILY
TEMPERATURE WAS ALMOST TWO DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. SAINT PAUL TIED ONE RECORD
TEMPERATURE...AND SET ONE NEW TEMPERATURE RECORD.

6/18/15- TIED HIGH MAXIMUM OF 59 SET LAST IN 1988
6/19/15- NEW RECORD HIGH MAXIMUM OF 56 BREAKING OLD RECORD OF 54 SET IN 2014

PRECIPITATION FOR JUNE 2015 WAS BELOW NORMAL AS WELL...WITH TOTAL ACCUMULATION
ALMOST A HALF INCH BELOW OF THE MONTHLY AVERAGE. SEVEN DAYS HAD PRECIPITATION
GREATER THAN 0.01... WITH A MAJORITY OF THE RAINFALL SPREAD BETWEEN THREE DAYS
THROUGHOUT THE MONTH.
