THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BARRY COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  CHRISTIAN COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  NORTHWESTERN TANEY COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  SOUTHEASTERN MCDONALD COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  STONE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 700 PM CDT.

* AT 1240 PM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT
  EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WAS PRODUCING FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THE WARNED
  AREA. UP TO SIX INCHES OF RAIN HAS FELL ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE
  WARNED AREA...CAUSING DANGEROUS FLASH FLOODING. RAINFALL OVER
  EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS IS LIKELY TO SPREAD BACK
  NORTHWARD INTO THE WARNED AREA LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
  THE FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCIES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR FLAT
  CREEK...ROARING RIVER...CENTRAL STONE COUNTY...AND WESTERN TANEY
  COUNTY INCLUDING THE CITY OF BRANSON.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO
  OCCUR. LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE...BIG SUGAR CREEK STATE
  PARK...BRANSON WEST...CASSVILLE...CRANE...EXETER...GALENA...
  HIGHLANDVILLE...INDIAN POINT...KIMBERLING CITY...LANAGAN...MERRIAM
  WOODS...NOEL...OZARK...PINEVILLE...REEDS SPRING...ROARING RIVER
  STATE PARK...ROCKAWAY BEACH...SELIGMAN...SOUTH WEST CITY...SPARTA
  AND WASHBURN. CREEKS...STREAMS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS WILL BE
  ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING.

HIGHWAY 13 AT RAILEY CREEK NEAR REEDS SPRING...
HIGHWAY 13 AT PINE RUN NORTHWEST OF GALENA...
ROUTE U AT PEDELO CREEK NORTHEAST OF SPARTA...
ROUTE Y AT FLAT CREEK JUST NORTHEAST OF CASSVILLE...
ROUTE C JUST SOUTH OF MCDOWELL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
